Week 2

These last couple of weeks have been very trying for me. I am trying to get into the swing of being back in school after having a few months off and I am also trying to adjust to a new school yes at my
job with mostly new staff. It’s been an adjustment for me as well as for our students. Last year I got along well with the teacher I worked with and when I found out she wouldn’t be returning I was very upset. I have learned a lot from her and she has inspired me to be a great teacher one day. She is one of those people that change your life when you meet them. We began the school year will a first year teacher and she was clueless on what to do. I immediately became frustrated, upset, and filled with anxiety. I began looking for new jobs and found myself not enjoying work as much anymore.
With this being said I was stuck in this attitude of complaint and feeling sorry for myself. I noticed how well our students adjusted to a new teacher and saw their excitement when they were able to meet her. I’ll admit I have a problem when it comes to big changes. After a few conversations and learning more about this new teacher I began to build a great relationship with her. I felt empathy because it was her first year teaching and I though to myself “this could be me next year”. I began giving her advice, helping her plan, and getting to know her better. We have both learned from each other and continue to adjust the classroom to best fit us and our students. It’s amazing how much a change of mindset and attitude can affects you each day.

  1. Change is not easy for anyone. I like to stay in my comfort zone. There are so many things in life that we cannot change. Having a positive attitude will help in any situation. It is easier said than done! Good luck!

  3. I like how you overcame your obstacle. You embraced the situation and adapted, instead of giving up. Sure, you looked at it negatively at first, but you change your mindset and adjusted. I like how you put yourself in her shoes and realized this could be you.
